How to write a resume that gets noticed
A strong resume makes it easy for a recruiter to understand what you have done, what you are good at, and why your experience fits the role.
Start with the role you want
Avoid writing one generic resume for every possible job. Identify the type of role you want and emphasize the skills, projects and outcomes that matter for that role.
Show outcomes, not just responsibilities
Instead of saying “responsible for building APIs,” explain what you built and what changed because of it. Numbers are useful when they are accurate and meaningful.
Make important skills easy to find
Use clear section headings and conventional terminology. This helps both humans and software systems understand your experience.
Keep it focused
Every line should earn its place. Remove old or irrelevant details when they make your strongest experience harder to see.
